Whether you are hosting a corporate event, business seminar or fundraiser, you should hire a professional photographer to document the day. The Best Type of Entertainment for your Corporate Event

Bringing Fun to Corporate Events If you are in the current process of planning your next corporate event or conference, hiring entertainment is a great idea! When figuring out what type of entertainer to have at your event, you should take into consideration the event timeline and the theme of your event so you can plan accordingly! One part of my job that I am always fond is when I get the opportunity to photograph events for large companies based around the Boston area. One company that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing different events for over the years is Bright Horizons Family Solutions. The Meeting Planner’s Photographer

I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing an evolving career.  When I started in hospitality, I was a restaurant server.  A strong drive and willingness (OK, maybe insistence?) to be the boss quickly promoted me to a manager.  And from there, I started planning events.  I’ve planned everything from corporate parties and leadership conferences to extravagant weddings.  This work experience had made me detail oriented, customer focused and quick to react to potential fires.  I’m very grateful to be able to bring these traits and more to my photography.   Photographers are often drawn to the business because they are artists and have found a way to make a living with their art.  I think I’m a little different in this regard.  I’m really a business person who happens to have artistic skill.  This puts me at an advantage in the corporate world.  I approach my corporate events as a meeting planner would.   My first question is how can I contribute to the success of this event?  Obviously, creating great images is a must.  I focus on images that show how fantastic the event was.  I make sure my images show the event was well attended (avoiding empty seats and […]

Social Media – A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Social media has changed the way we all do business.  As a small business owner, I use social media every day to advertise my photography services.  The images on your social media business page can be a huge asset to your growing business.  But they can also hurt.  Let’s consider your actual profile photo.  Your profile photo will represent you on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.  They’re even used with many email platforms.  Considering many of our first interactions with potential clients are through social media and email, these images are introducing you to your future clients.  What does your profile pic say about you? Featured Client – The InterContinental Hotel Boston

I’ve been so lucky to pair with one of the most stylish and beautiful hotels in Boston!  The job came from a rather unlikely source, a former wedding client.  I shot a gorgeous wedding in Boston for Meg and Mike.  It turns out, Meg is the eCommerce Manager at InterContinental Hotel Boston.  She liked my work enough to ask me to do some corporate work for her! What to Wear for the Perfect Headshot

If you are entering the business world, it’s most likely that you will need a professional headshot for a number of reasons. It’s important to make sure that you are prepared and have a clear vision for what you want to portray in these photos because a number of people will see these! Here are some helpful tips everyone should know before getting headshots: Think about what the head shot will be used for: Business website, LinkedIn, an article you’re publishing Who is your target audience: Young, Old, Rich, Funky How do you want to portray yourself: Professional, Approachable, Fun What makes you comfortable? Documentary Photography – Hands Up For Haiti

The purpose of my trip to Haiti was to document the great work Hands Up for Haiti does.  The volunteers for HUFH spent the week hosting clinics for the children of Cap-Haitien and the neighboring villages.  They hosted five days of pediatric medical clinics.  And while the trip was not structured this way, each day of clinic got a bit more intense.  Our first two days were spent at Open Door Ministries, which also hosted us overnight for the first four nights of our trip.  Open Door is a faith based organization which includes a medical clinic, a school, church and an orphanage.  The children who visited Open Door were the most healthy of all the children we saw.  This is a testament to the fact that Hands Up for Haiti has been holding clinics there for five years.  It was great to see the progress they had made.   Our third day of clinic was an outreach clinic called Bord de Mer located in Limonade.  When we arrived at Bord de Mer, I was surprised to see we were setting up in an old building with a dirt floor.  The structure was in such rough shape, there were chunks […]

Documentary Work – Portraits of the Children of Northern Haiti

One of my biggest joys was interacting with, playing with and photographing the children on my trip with Hands up for Haiti.  They were my biggest fans!  They loved having their photo taken and would often ham it up for the camera.  Then, they would run at me and insist on seeing their image.  When it was time to find a corner to edit, I was often followed by a group to help me cull and edit.  While we did not share the same language, they made it very clear which images were their favorite.   So much about these children is just like their American counterparts.  But then, you take a close look and realize many of them have seen and experienced more heartache than we will ever see.  I believe you can see it in the eyes of some of these little ones.  Below, are some of my favorite portraits taken throughout the week.  I just love the ones taken on the side of the road (whether on walks or when our van broke down).  There were a lot of kids rocking the peace sign.  I’d be very curious to know how they learned it.
